Great crested newt habitat creation

Filey Leisure Park
This is a caravan leisure park on the north east coast with a nationally significant population of great crested newts.

JPR Environmental were engaged for Bourne Leisure by Tyler Grange Environmental Planning Consultancy to enhance the mitigation area; an area of fenced off, natural land.

Large areas needed to be cleared of scrub
This required scrub clearance of approximately one hectare, returning areas to grassland
management.

JPR also dredged and opened up some existing, overgrown ponds that were previously clogged with vegetation and silt.

Lining the pond with bentonite liner

We created an additional two ponds, 200 square metres in size, and planted these with aquatic plants.

Creating one of the new ponds

All work needed to be carried out with due consideration for the protected species and the new ponds have been created to Natural England guidelines.

JPR have been able to implement the required mitigation works set out in the planning conditions which will in turn enable Bourne Leisure to carry out their development plans.

It has been great to see this project from start to finish.
